The Old Church

The Damage

The Cleanup

The Rebuilding

In 1997 a massive flood devastated the city of Grand Forks, ND.  Eight blizzards froze the city, then a rapid temperature change cause the snow to melt too fast for the Red River’s Banks to handle.  City-wide flooding occurred, and water finally struck the city’s electrical system causing several downtown buildings to catch on fire.  Helicopters, dropping fire retardant chemicals, were unable to tame the blaze.  Fire trucks were unable to reach the fire due to the height of the floodwaters, so they were mounted on top of National Guard flatbed trucks making them able to be driven further into the flood waters and finally put the fires out.  When all was said and done an estimated $1 Billion in damage was done to the city…

BUT GOD STILL BLESSED!

The Blessing

Calvary United Pentecostal Church would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all the local businesses, banks, disaster workers, military members, and volunteers who helped rebuild our wonderful church.  We would like to give a very special thanks to all the members of the UPCI’s North Dakota District who contributed of their time, money, and effort so that we may have a beautiful place to meet with God.   May God’s richest blessings be showered upon you, as it says in Luke 6:38, in…”good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over…”
